Vesak Celebration
Our Vesak celebration is our largest gathering of the year. We have invited the Venerable Bhante Bodhidhamma to lead us in taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, and to guide us in learning to give our lives to all beings.
On this day, we commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and final passing of the Perfectly Enlightened One known as Gautama Buddha. The day’s events will begin in the early morning and carry into the evening.
We will take part in generations-old rituals that tie us to Buddhists throughout space and time, and that bring forth our deepest reverence for those who have strived for Awakening and achieved their goal.
We will bear witness as dear friends commit to this path, becoming brothers and sisters in the Dharma.
We will drop our heads to the Earth in grief for life that has been lost, in awe at the unrelenting sanctity of life, and in joy for our chance to live in service of all life.
We will welcome those to whom we are related through karma, as we reunite with long-time friends, supporters, current trainees, alumni, and members of our local community to honor this sacred path on this most auspicious of days.
